Privacy policy

Effective October 11, 2026

In short: ClassMap has no servers and no accounts of its own. The class lists and seating charts you create stay on your device. If you choose to sign in with Google, a copy is kept in your own Google Drive. We don't collect, see, sell or share your data.

What ClassMap stores, and where

When you use ClassMap, everything you enter — class names, student names, the groups and tags you assign, seating rules, notes, room layouts and classroom photos — is saved in your web browser on your device (in the browser's IndexedDB storage). It is not sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data for ClassMap deletes it, so we recommend using Back up everything to keep a copy.

ClassMap also keeps a few settings in your browser, such as light or dark theme, the first names it has learned for automatic sorting, and when you last made a backup.

Google sign-in and Google Drive (optional)

You can choose to sign in with Google so your classes are available on other devices. If you do:

ClassMap's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google is used only to provide ClassMap's sync feature to you. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not shared with anyone, and not used to train AI or machine-learning models.

What we don't do

The page loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives standard connection information (such as your IP address) like any website you visit.

Student information

Teachers enter student names and seating notes to make charts. Because this information stays on the teacher's device (and, if they choose, the teacher's own Google Drive), ClassMap does not receive or hold student records. Please follow your school's policies about which student information you keep in apps — for example, using first names and last initials.
